The End of an Era – Gallery Red and 2015
It is with some sadness that I wish to announce that moving into 2015 Gallery Red will be on hiatus for at least the first six months of the year. While this has not been an easy decision, it has been made as I would like more time at home in my role as a “stay at home dad” with our beautiful 15 month old daughter.
I would like to thank everyone who has been involved with the Gallery since we first opened in 2008, whether as an exhibiting artist or an attendee at one of our many exhibitions. Your support of our space is most appreciated and we have certainly seen some amazing and diverse work on our walls since the very first exhibition!
Unfortunately our annual exhibitions Under Pressure and ShutterSpeed will not be held in 2015. I would like to thank all the artists who have already applied for these exhibitions, the quality of the submissions so far has been exceptional. 31 Days will proceed as usual, and an email for expressions of interest will be sent out closer to the time!
For artists interested in renting the space in the first half of 2015, Gallery One and Two as a combined space will be made available for the discounted rate of $550 + GST per week, with a 15% commission on sales. Exhibiting artists would be required to hang and staff the space themselves, as well as take the exhibition down upon completion. The Gallery would provide marketing through our website, mailing list and Facebook page. Opening night catering costs are available on request.
I would like to extend a very big thank you to Liz and Tristan, whom many of you have liaised with over the years, for all their time, effort and dedication to the Gallery Red cause. I wish them all the best with the future, and am sure generous portions of success await them both.
Finally I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the best for Christmas and the New Year! Thanks for all your support in 2014, have a wonderful break wherever you may find yourselves!
